Man pleads guilty to sex offences against boys at summer program
A person who spiked treats with sedative and gave them to children at a youth camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two young males both nine and 10.
The defendant was arrested after eight youngsters and a grown-up became sick at the facility in July.
The elderly man, from that region, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Yet, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was involving a young boy.
The accused was remanded in custody prior to a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, outlined the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.
She said his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a summer camp which he operated.
The defendant engaged in a "candy game" with the children, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge the man had played this game with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She stated the man had been able to explain this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had worries in July 2025.
The prosecutor added: "Recently" his family member had concerns about what was going on, for good reason.
"They resolved" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC explained items including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were located, and his family member alerted the police about his worries.
She explained the defendant proceeded to engage in the "sweet game" with six youngsters that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, had stated that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
Mrs Prior stated the minors were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the family member called the law enforcement once more.
She said the man then conducted the "candy game" in a room of five children.
